Gallbladder Surgery
Expert in preventive surgery and gallbladder emergencies
Surgical management of gallbladder conditions to relieve pain and prevent complications. I perform laparoscopic surgery to remove the gallbladder through small incisions.

What are the diseases of the gallbladder and bile duct?
The presence of stones in the gallbladder causes discomfort; in advanced stages, they can cause more intense and frequent symptoms. Complications can arise from these stones obstructing the cystic duct, causing infection and, in severe cases, pancreatitis.
Benefits of gallbladder surgery
- Safe procedure
- Minimally invasive options available
- Effective in preventing new episodes
Minimally invasive and fast recovery
Elective surgery: Scheduling your procedure promotes a fast recovery and improves the possibility of using modern technology such as laparoscopy or laser.
Timely care in emergency cases. I offer rapid response to complex situations, with closeness and dedication to provide safe care and reduce serious risks.

What to expect from the procedure
- Assessment
-
In the case of elective surgery, a prior consultation is required to guide the patient on the options and to be able to perform the procedure safely. Pre-operative exams will be indicated along with an assessment by an internist, with the aim of providing a personalized surgical plan.
- Procedure
-
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy: the surgery consists of carefully separating the gallbladder from the liver. Once released, it is placed in an endobag and removed through a trocar, using a minimal incision. Open gallbladder surgery: this is less common. Removal is performed through an incision in the abdomen. These are performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Emergency surgery requires one night of hospitalization.
- Laparoscopic Surgery
-
As a gastrointestinal surgeon, I perform advanced minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of acute cholecystitis and its complications. I treat conditions resulting from bile stone obstruction, such as cholangitis, choledocholithiasis, and pancreatitis, with a safe and minimally invasive approach.
- Recovery
-
It will take a couple of weeks to resume activities, and up to four weeks to return to exercise that requires lifting heavy objects or abdominal effort. Meanwhile, medication will be prescribed. A follow-up consultation will be held one week after the procedure.
- Care and nutrition
-
I will provide instructions for wound cleaning and approximation stitches. The diet should be low in fat during recovery.

Frequently asked questions
- What is gallbladder pain like?

Although a diet that facilitates digestion helps, it does not replace a medical assessment. Gallstones can only be addressed surgically.

-
Signs of gallstones can include: intense pain in the upper right part of the abdomen, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), and in some cases fever and chills, as well as nausea and vomiting.
- Can the gallbladder burst?
-
Perforation of the gallbladder wall is a complication resulting from inflammation that requires emergency surgery due to its life-threatening risk.
