Cecal Appendix Surgery

Expert in emergency appendectomy procedures

Timely and minimally invasive surgical management for acute appendicitis.

Acute Appendicitis

What is acute appendicitis and what is its treatment?

When the appendix becomes inflamed due to obstruction from parasites, tumors, or fecal matter, it causes abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and sometimes fever.

Treatment is surgical, as a ruptured organ can cause peritonitis, a serious infection. The approach involves removing the inflamed appendix to prevent complications.

Benefits of appendix surgery

  • Small scars
  • Fast recovery
  • Less postoperative pain

Safe and personalized approach

Timely care with warmth and empathy is key during the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. As a general surgeon, I will walk you through and keep you informed at all times about the surgical intervention.

Using safety protocols, I prioritize timely resolution through the removal of the appendix in a controlled and safe environment.

Safe and personalized approach

What to expect from the procedure

Assessment

Immediate medical evaluation to confirm the diagnosis through clinical analysis and imaging studies (ultrasound or CT scan). The degree of inflammation of the appendix is determined, and the patient is quickly prepared for the operating room.

Procedure

Laparoscopic appendectomy is performed through small incisions in the abdomen under general anesthesia.

Laparoscopic Surgery

This minimally invasive technology allows us a clear view of the abdominal interior, ensuring precise cuts and secure sealing.

Recovery

For these types of procedures, the hospital stay is usually 24 hours, during which you may experience discomfort and pain that will be treated effectively. A follow-up consultation will be held one week after the procedure.

Care and nutrition

There will be a quick return to normal activities. I will provide instructions for the proper care of the small surgical wounds and a gradual progression in diet to resume intestinal transit without discomfort.

Frequently asked questions

What is the appendix / Where is the appendix?

It is a small tube attached to the beginning of the large intestine. It is located in the lower right part of the abdomen, just above the groin.

Where do you feel appendix pain?

The most noticeable symptom is pain that starts around the belly button and then moves to the lower right side of the abdomen. It intensifies when walking, coughing, or pressing on the area, and is sometimes accompanied by nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, or fever.

How is appendix removal surgery performed?

When the appendix becomes obstructed, the inflammation worsens rapidly. With laparoscopic technology, we remove the organ.

What does the appendix do?

It supports gut health by storing beneficial bacteria and assisting the immune system. However, it is not an essential organ. If removed, the rest of your digestive and immune systems continue to function normally.
